Newcastle’s Matty Longstaff is currently talk of the Toon after scoring a screamer to defeat Manchester United at St James’ Park last night. But did you know the secret to his success – okay, well maybe a very small part of it! – was a mouth-watering meal right here at Shikara?!

Matty and his brother Sean made the short journey from NE29 to NE26 to visit Shikara on Friday night to celebrate their sister’s birthday. The renowned family men enjoyed some of our award-winning dishes at Whitley Bay’s finest Indian restaurant (if we do say so ourselves!) with their nearest and dearest on what was to become something of a memorable feast for the happy family.

While their NUFC gaffer may be more au fait with a post-training kebab, the Longstaff’s preferred a pre-match curry, and it certainly seemed to pay off judging by the wild scenes on Tyneside this weekend!

It was a pleasure to host the local heroes and their families and we look forward to welcoming them back to Shikara very soon. After all, we could definitely do with another good result!
